Holiday Cottages
Bridge Street, Dunkeld
Unfortunately Bridge Street is temporarily unavailable, we hope to have it back on the market in 2010
Sleeping up to ten, this spacious, well-appointed self-catering holiday apartment offers five bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, dining room and an external courtyard. Located in the heart of Dunkeld, it boasts its own access, period charm and has been furnished to a very high standard by its new owners, Nick and Airin Gilmour, who bought and renovated the property over the spring of 2005.
Dating back to the 1840s, the property was designed by Alexander Robertson. It is a beautiful old stone building with a westerly aspect set over four floors, and has lots of original features. It has been lovingly decorated and maintained throughout the years.
The accommodation is set on the first and second floors of the building, but it still has its own private entrance off Brae Street into a ground floor entrance hall and stairwell leading up to the main accommodation above. The entrance hall is suitable for coats and boots, fishing rods, etc, and an area can be made available for bicycles and other outdoor gear.
A traditional staircase leads up to the first floor landing. At the top of the stairs is a bathroom with a modern roll top bath. The spacious living room looks down Bridge Street, the Cross and along High Street. This floor also contains a double bedroom with an Indonesian four-poster bed. The kitchen is finished to an extremely high standard; fully-fitted kitchen with built in appliances (microwave, electric hob, oven, dishwasher and fridge). Next to the kitchen is the dining room suitable for ten people. The furniture has been brought in from Indonesia and is extremely unique.
Off the kitchen is a staircase leading down to a small courtyard. This has recently been decked and is furnished with a set of teak garden furniture. A gas barbeque can be made available should guests wish to cook in this area.
On the second floor are a further four bedrooms: one double and three twins. There is also a bathroom with a built in power shower, as well as a small area for a TV and easy chairs suitable for kids.
The ground floor and basement of the property are used by Batavia
The property is ideal for those looking for uncomplicated accommodation with easy access to Highland Perthshire, Perth, Fife and further a field. Local services mean you will not have to drive anywhere unless you wish, and local fishing and outdoor sports are on the your doorstep. Bridge Street is also available for weekend short breaks and is ideal for accommodating wedding parties, as Dunkeld Cathedral is just two minutes walk away.
